Abstract:The Initial Stage of P.R. China was a period with lots of huge social changes. Many new traditions were invented to serve for the new times, the new state image and its social order. They had the renovation feature of that epoch, and they were also connected with specific traditions in order to obtain stability. These newly invented traditions were expressed through the ritualized actions in the public sections, and finally became events in which people of the whole nation participated together. As a historical phenomenon, it was not only universal, but also vernacular with Chinese characteristics. In this paper, I would like to analyze the reasons for the emergence of the newly invented traditions and its (their) functions in order to help deepening our comprehension of P.R. China's social practice during its Initial Stage.
