Abstract The improvement of individual occupational well-being is one of the focused issues in theoretical research. Job characteristics are important factors that influent the improvement of individual occupational well-being. This paper firstly demonstrates the origin of the occupational well-being oriented job-demand-control-support model. Secondly, we sort out the three basic theoretical hypotheses of the job-demand-control-support model and their related empirical research accomplishment. Thirdly, this review clarifies the three main expanded parts of the occupational well-being oriented job-demand-control-support model researches. Lastly, five issues and their possible ways to work out are provided to future researches for further investigation.
