Abstract Within the logic of value innovation, we should take contract structure as basic restriction and digging the value as basic objective when designing the structure of modular organization. In this paper, we make qualitative and quantitative analysis for breaking up of original organizational structure, pointing out that the optimal size could arrive when marginal cost equals to marginal income. Then, we design the basic structure of modular organization, and summarize six shapes of modular organization: single-core outer functioning structure, single-core inner functioning structure, multi-cores outer functioning structure, multi-cores inner functioning structure, single-core mix functioning structure and multi-cores mix functioning structure.
