Abstract Based on the data of the development of high-tech industries in Yangtze River Delta (Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai) from year 1996 to year 2008, and considering the ratio of new products’ sales income and all products’ sales income as the proxy of innovation performance, the results show that endogenous-innovation effect, export, and the introduction of technology have positive impact on innovation performance. Meanwhile, the results also indicate that, first, cooperation can enhance the innovation performance effectively by indigenous technology spillover; second, competition in the areas with balanced distributing industries is also crucial to promoting innovation performance.
