Abstract Capability is an important source of firm competitive advantages. Based on the analysis of the New Venture’s capability building, we regard the capability building as a knowledge activity within firms. In that process, there are two kinds of knowledge activities including knowledge transferring of individual level and knowledge operating of cross-level. However, it is impossible to avoid some conflicts in knowledge activities. So, firms need to use integration mechanism to eliminate the conflicts to ensure the capability building. Three patterns are included in integration mechanism, namely authority, institution and culture. The New Venture should choose an appropriate pattern to meet its practical need according to its characteristics in dynamic development process.
