Location, the Economy of Scale and the Agglomeration of Innovation |

Abstract This paper examines the Spatial distribution of innovation. It is found that innovation tends to agglomerate in such provinces as Guangdong, Zhejiang. Combined geography with the economy of scale, the hypothesis is put forward that in the transition period those provinces endowed with better knowledge base, more resources and more competitive market structure has advantages in innovation and increasing returns of innovation to scale enlarged their advantages and facilitate the agglomeration of innovation. Furthermore, empirical evidences are consistent with this hypothesis.
