Abstract:The changes of technologies transform the spatial forms of human society constantly, and reconstructthe life experience and aesthetic perception of human beings. As a technical space, the modern city constitutes the perceptive environment of Shanghai New Sensationalism, and it is also an important representation object. The modernity of Shanghai is first manifested as a “technological modernity” by dissemination and transplantation, which is the direct geographical consequence of western technologies include modern military, transportation, communication and others. The local production of “technological modernity” in Shanghai includes the construction of urban space and the reconstruction of urban/rural spatial relationship. The “new sensation” on modern technological things characterized by New Sensationalist authors is the strong induction and echo to the effect of technology in the technological urban space. The cinematization of the perceptual representation by New Sensationalism is a kind of modern technological media mechanism. From the perspectives of Technological Geography to Technological Aesthetics, the rereading of Shanghai New Sensationalism highlights the dialectical relationship of “human/ technology/space” in a modern city, which has universal reference significance.
