the late twentieth century, the ethical turn of narrative research and the narrative turn of ethics almost occurred simultaneously and echoed each other. Narrative exploration in Philosophy and Ethics and the narrative ethic research into literary rhetoric, the two research roads combine together. Narrative ethics studies in Europe and America focus more on ‘ethics of narration’, ‘ethics of reading’ and the meaning constructed by narrative, showing the profound influence of western tradition of form criticism and post-structural philosophy, and the feature of strong philosophical speculation.Comparatively, studies of narrative ethics in China show more concern for ‘ethics of the story’, ‘ethics of writing (production)’and how the narrative texts reflect or bear ethical significance, showing the profound influence of Chinese traditional criticism. Both Chinese and western narrative ethics research are unique with its own features and each should learn lessons from the other.
