Abstract Chinese traditional manufacturing clusters are in urgent need of a low-carbon transformation and upgrading. The low-carbon transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing clusters is a complex dynamic process. From the perspective of the microscopic clusters' agent, this paper analyzes the relationships of enterprises' competition and cooperation. Based on the view of evolutionary game theory, this paper establishes an evolutionary game model of traditional manufacturing clusters. Based on MATLAB, the paper simulates the stable equilibrium strategies and influence factors of clusters' low-carbon transformation and upgrading. In the end, some suggestions are given to improve the low-carbon transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing clusters. By using evolutionary game theory and simulations to study low-carbon transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing clusters, the paper clarifies the dynamic strategy choice of clusters enterprises' low-carbon transformation. It also shows the mechanism that the clusters enterprises change its own low-carbon transformation strategies according to the game environment change.
