Abstract Platform development strategies and the transformation from traditional trade mediation to modern and comprehensive commercial trade service platform are the main transition upgrading direction for specialized markets. The key problem is the design of appropriate platform development strategy for specialized markets based on their characteristics. The researchers, from the view of two-sided platform, apply the complex system method to investigate the design of platform development strategy of specialized markets. A dynamic evolution map is used to characterize the structure and operation mechanisms of the specialized market platform system. With the visualized platform system, a framework method is developed to design and optimize the strategies of platform system management. The platform design strategy of Yongkang Chinese Technology Hardware City was taken as an application case for the demonstration of the proposed method.
