Abstract The manufacturing regional specialization, enterprise scale and export have different impacts on the value chain climbing under the conditions of opening. Taking Jiangsu manufacturing for example, this paper uses the principal component analysis to measure industry value chain rising status, and static and dynamic panel data model to study the mechanism of regional specialization, enterprise scale, and exports impacting the value chain climbing. The study finds: the growth of enterprise scale contributes to manufacturing value chain climbing; there is a long-term equilibrium relationship among the manufacturing value chain climbing, regional specialization and enterprise scale, but regional specialization doesn’t show promoting function to the manufacturing industry value chain climbing, and exports cannot achieve the goal of manufacturing value chain climbing. In addition, there is an inversion of labor, capital, knowledge and technology intensive industry in the manufacturing industrial deviation of the total intercept.
