Abstract As a key link that connects production and consumption, the distribution plays an important role in expanding domestic demand. Most of the present studies on the relationship between distribution and consumption, however, are not so convincing for lack of academic foundations. Through the literature survey, we construct a theoretical framework to explain how distribution can promote consumption by saving search costs, solving moral hazard and adverse selection, providing comfortable shopping environments and reducing return costs etc.
