Abstract The symbiotic relationship between modern logistics industry and advanced manufacturing is analyzed through using Symbiotic theory. Symbiotic models with strength symmetry and asymmetry are built, and the relationship between the two industries is discussed. Conclusion is that cooperation between the modern logistics and advanced manufacturing industry is mutually beneficial. In the case of limited resources, Logistics outsourcing can promote reciprocal development to the two industries. At last, four routes are presented for the symbiotic development of the two industries.
