Abstract This paper starts from the definition of initial spirit, then explores the implication of initiative spirit in employee's mind by using the methods of semi-structural interview, exploration questionnaire factor analysis and structural equation modeling test. In the first study, a survey to 357 respondents is made. The result shows that the initiative spirit includes better suggestions, learning-development and overcoming barriers, which indicates high reliability and validity. In the second study, the structure concluded in the first study is validated by using the data about 255 respondents. The empirical factor analysis result based on the multi-model comparison shows that the three dimensional model can best fit data outcome.
