Abstract Land bank investment is an important part of land reserve system, which plays an active role in adjusting land supply, changing the real estate market expectation, and improving the security of housing system. Making good use of land bank investment is an important issue that the governments at all levels must face. This paper examines the case of Beijing in which a 100-billion-investment plan in 2009 is developed in order to spur the healthy development of the real estate market and the national economy, and analyzes in depth the effects of the land bank investment, such as boosting real estate market, stabilizing housing prices, optimizing the real estate market structure, and adjusting the spatial layout of real estate industry.
