Abstract The paper analyzes outsourcing networks by using social network theory. We explain the reason of OEMs lack of innovation in the network structure in which there is a strong relationship between MNCs and OEMs. It is found that OEMs could not hold structure holes. The paper suggests that OEMs must develop a slender relationship with MNCs to get rid of the reliance on MNCs in technology and market, and build a support system for independent innovation if they want to achieve innovation.
