Abstract The improvement of logistics service efficiency is essential for both promoting logistics industry development and changing the economic growth pattern. Based on TPLSP’s effort flexibility, this paper uses the Real options method to analyze the decision-making mechanism of improving logistics service efficiency. The threshold of the demand for the products of a client enterprise causes TPLSP to select effort level, and good logistics service efficiency is then gained. Result shows that TPLSP’S effort flexibility will increase the threshold, but go against improvement of logistics service efficiency. At the same time, each factor influencing the threshold is further analyzed. This paper argues that the improvement of logistics service efficiency depends on the strategic alliance relationship between logistics service supplier and demander, and government guidance.
