Abstract This paper applied DEA-based Malmquist index to estimate total factor productivity growth of China’s circulation industry, and decompose it into technical efficiency and technical progress. The results show that, the average growth rate of TFP of China’s circulation industry is 0.6% in 1993-2008, in which technical efficiency increases 0.4%, and technical progress rate is 0.2%.The growth characteristics varies in different time periods. Meanwhile, the growth rate shows obvious difference among the East, Central and West as well as inside the areas. The TFP of circulation industry should be further increased.
