Abstract Along with the deepening of reform and opening up, "three rural" issues have become increasingly prominent in China, and will not disappear in the short term. Nowadays, it is the basic task in rural statistics to provide real, effective and comprehensive information for solving the "three rural" issues. This paper analyzes and summarizes the various contradictions and problems under the current rural survey system, and puts forward reform ideas about China's rural survey system respectively from the institutional system, organization system and methodology system. The survey system under the reform ideas can collect information comprehensively, timely, and effectively, and provide survey data about the "three rural" issues. The new problems arising from the process of the future practical application and reform can also be settled under the overall framework of this system.
