The Evolutionary Logic of Domestic Market Development Strategy |

Abstract The domestic market is the comparative advantage of the large-scale economies of large countries. Promoting the formation of a strong domestic market is a strategic choice for China to promote high-quality economic development in the new era. The evolutionary logic that promotes the formation of a strong domestic market is: the evolution of the economic development stage promotes the transformation of the economic development model from investmentfocus to consumption-focus; technological progress drives the transformation of the economic development strategy from export orientation to domestic demand orientation; the law of demand structure evolution determines the government policies to support the development of the domestic market; the structural mismatch between supply and demand requires the improvement of the quality of domestic supply and demand through supply-side structural reforms. The relative position of production and consumption has changed during the course of economic development. The economic gravity center shifting from production to consumption is the basis of the above evolutionary logic. Promoting the formation of a strong domestic market requires the support of a comprehensive “supply-demand-market” policy system.
