Abstract:Consumer amenities are not only an accessory of urban economic activities, but also an important factor to attract human capital agglomeration and drive the upgrading of industrial structure. Based on the panel data of 282 cities in China, this paper studies the impact of urban consumer amenities on the upgrading of industrial structure and its mechanism. The results show that: on the whole, urban consumer amenities can promote the upgrading of industrial structure. From the perspective of intermediary effect, talent agglomeration is an important channel to investigate the impact of urban consumer amenities on the upgrading of local industrial structure. From the perspective of spatial effect, there is a spatial spillover effect, that is, the improvement of consumer amenities in the surrounding areas is also conducive to the upgrading of industrial structure in the region. Under the new development pattern, we should pay attention to the construction of urban consumer amenities and give play to its regional linkage, so as to make it an important support for the construction of innovation highland and the upgrading of industrial structure.
