The promulgation of The Imperial Edict of Abdication of the Qing Emperor means the end of the Qing Dynasty, but the definition of “China” expressed in the sentence “the integrated territory of the five nationalities of Manchu, Mongol, Han, Hui, and Tibet forms the great Republic of China” not only inherits the “China” identity and “nation” identity in Awaken to the Grand Justice but also maintains the territorial integrity of the Qing dynasty while maintaining the legitimacy of the Republic of China inheriting this territory from legal perspective. This has had an important impact on the Chinese people’s “Chinese identity” and their cognition of “the Chinese nation.” In this way, the self-positioning of all the people within the territory of China as “Chinese” began to become a self-explanatory premise, which highlighted the historical significance of the Imperial Edict of Abdication of the Qing Emperor.
