Abstract:Since child sexual abuse has been a considered social fact, it is a must to evoke societal attention to its prevention. The government and social work profession deserve the definite obligation to take action for advancing the practice movement. This article examines the current policies and practice work in Taiwan; the obtained result indicates two existing facts: (1) there is no single policy regulating any sexual prevention work; and, (2) the practice work primarily provides after-the-fact intervention. For protecting children from been physically or mentally sexual abused, major suggestions address on: (1) all relevant polices have to amend at the immediate urgency, (2) “primary prevention approach” is the prioritized intervention strategy in practice. In addition, The Chinese Mainland in the promotion of child protection work process, should properly learn from Taiwan’s experience.
