Abstract:Based on panel data among 12 provinces, the paper studies tourism input productivity and Total Factor Productivity (TFP) of the West, China during 2000—2009 with patulous Solow Residual Model. The results indicate that (1) input of fixed assets, human capital, infrastructure and service facility promoted tourism economy of the West; (2) tourism economy of the West is still at the stage of increasing returns to scale (the coefficient is 1.4278), and input of elements will motivate tourism economy; (3) TFP of the tourism is low, 2.98%, from 2000 to 2009. From now on, the West should increase input and make infrastructure and service facility better, and pay more attention to improvement of TFP.
