Abstract:The floating population problem is of supreme importance in China in the ensuing several decades. And the housing problem is one of the most fundamental and sever problems that they face in their urban lives. Grasping the living conditions and willingness of the floating population, is an effective way to help study and solve their housing problem. Through a survey of 374 migrant workers from the four districts of Hangzhou, the essay analyses and compares all these faces of basic situation, characteristics of housing, environmental and traffic conditions, living expenses and their living inclinations. The essay also puts forth some policy suggestions on improving the living status of the floating population, as well as the promotion of the process of the integration of urban and rural areas.
