Abstract:At present, the writing ability of most college students is still very weak. The author of the paper, from the perspective of text linguistics, points out that the students' poor knowledge of cohesion in English texts is a significant factor for that. Moreover, by making analysis of the writing range-finders of CET Band 4 and Band 6, the author investigates the close relationship between text cohesion and English writing. Finally, the author makes some suggestions on how to better the students' English writing.
