Abstract:Power-law behavior at the top end of the wealth distribution is examined using the Forbes lists between the years 2003-2005. We find that distribution of wealth in China is power-law distribution with the Pareto exponent lying between 0.98 and 1.21.The result of fitting the top tail of the wealth distribution is very good. The Pareto index of wealth distribution in China is smaller than these of America and the U K, but is lager than that of India, which implies that the wealth disparity in China is higher than the U S. and the U K, but is lower than India
