Abstract Based on panel data the technical efficiency and pure technical efficiency of the logistics industry of 30 provinces (cities) in China are calculated with Super Efficiency-Data Envelopment Analysis (SE-DEA) in 2006-2015, and the scale efficiency is obtained through decomposing. With checking model the paper analyzes the efficiency difference of the regional logistics industry comparatively and the development trend. The results show that there are obvious regional differences of the logistics industry efficiencies, and exist huge space for promotion. After 2008, the technical efficiency of the logistics industry shows the upward trend. The pure technical efficiency of the eastern is higher than that of the central and western regions. There is a certain gap between the actual scale and the optimal scale of the regional logistics industry about provinces and eastern, central and western regions. The convergence test shows that the technical efficiency in western provinces reflects significant convergence, the technical efficiency in eastern, central provinces and national scope significantly converge to their own steady-state level of efficiency; the pure technical efficiency in the central provinces and national scope shows significant convergence, but the eastern and western provinces don’t show the convergence characteristics; the scale efficiency in the eastern, central and western provinces and the national scope show significant signs of conditional convergence. By analyzing the convergence or divergence of regional logistics industry efficiencies, the aim is to clarify the difference and obtain inspirations for applying to the operation management for promoting the coordinated development of regional logistics industry.
