Abstract Based on stakeholder theory, this paper examines the relationship between firm growth and corporate social responsibility (CSR) from a dynamic perspective. The empirical analysis on 319 valid questionnaires indicates that firms with different size and/or at different stage of life cycle have different CSR cognition and CSR strategies. The argument that each firm should assume all kinds of social responsibilities is harmful to the firm growth, and it may hinder the firms from engaging in the CSR activities.
