Abstract The paper explore the gender difference in financing of private SME in china. We found that the average credits from the banks of female SME owners are much less than the male, some 90% of the latter. The most difference can be explained by the other individual characters of owners except gender, the firms’ characters and the demand of financing, while the margin effect of gender impact still significant, female owner only financed credit 42% of male. Given the more robust performance of the female owners, we not only need the gender terms of the financing policy, but also need more support policy toward female owners.
