| A Study on Retailer–Supplier Relationship: from the Perspective of Promoting Harmonious Development of Industries |

Abstract The relationship between retailers and suppliers is of great importance in industrial development. A survey shows that the inequity between the two parties is serious, which has threatened the harmony of the whole industry chain. The conflicts focus on slotting allowance and unreasonable payment arrears. And the main reasons for the conflicts lie in large retailers’ excessive use of their market advantage to seek maximum benefits, excessive dependence on “channel control” and misunderstanding of suppliers relying on channel resources. It contributes to building a harmonious relationship between retailers and suppliers to improve relevant laws and regulations, strengthen social credit system, promote contract mechanism, and build reasonable benefit distribution mechanism and information sharing mechanism, which could promote the healthy development of industry.
