Abstract Public security can protect the property rights of the capital thus improve the rate of economic growth. Think about the overflow effect of the public security, this paper made an empirical analysis by using the spatial panel data of China from the year 1998 to 2005. The result told us, the expenditure for city maintenance, public security agency, procuratorial agency and court of justice have made positive effects to the economic growth indeed. So, the economy growth of China also could be quicker if we spent more resources on the public security service.
