Abstract Performance episode theory suggests that the transition phase and the action phase alternately form the entire performance chain. MTS cohesion from the perspective of performance episode means that multiple teams achieve the same goal so that they work together to a group process under the dynamic performance evaluation. This study uses qualitative analysis and concept lattice-weighted group DEMATEL to identify the affecting factors of MTS cohesion of the manufacturing industry of Zhejiang, Shanghai, Hunan, Henan, and then explores the importance of each factor. From the analyses based on the interview data from 247 enterprising administrators, we identify that MTS cohesion of manufacturing industry is affected by value identification, team conflict of team layer, target recognition, MTS oriented of MTS layer in the transition phase; and MTS cohesion is affected by team conflict, team relationships of team layer, mutual cognitive, and collaboration patterns of MTS layer in action phase. This paper enriches the MTS theory and performance episode, and it also provides inspiration for more efficient incentive schemes for manufacturing enterprise team managers.
