Abstract From the perspective of the combination of knowledge resource-based and knowledge network-imbedded views, this research explores into the organizational driving mechanism of the emerging technology innovation. The empirical study based on the sample of 221 Chinese emerging technology firms shows: the performance of the emerging technology innovation is positively related with the richness of knowledge, accompanied with an inverted U shape relation to both the heterogeneity and dynamics. Knowledge network structural hole is negatively related with the emerging technology innovation performance, accompanied with an inverted U shape relation to centrality of knowledge network. The structural hole of knowledge network interacts negatively, while the centrality of knowledge network shows positive relation with knowledge ecological characteristics. To promote the emerging technology innovation, fewer structural holes and high centrality of knowledge network should be adopted to promote knowledge innovation.
